[Johannesburg, 20 April 2005] – Premier Sage ERP Accpac business partner AccTech Systems has completed a major upgrade of the Zambian cobalt refinery giant, Chambishi Metals plc’s finance and procurement system.

“Chambishi Metals, a full affiliate of Switzerland’s J&W Investments Group, runs the largest cobalt refinery operation in Africa from its production site in Zambia’s Copperbelt capital city Kitwe,” says Tertius Zitzke, managing director of AccTech Systems.

“Since our first installation of Sage ERP Accpac and our eWorkflow module in 1999, we’ve managed to take Chambishi through four seamless upgrades giving credit to the database structure and platform independent design of Sage ERP Accpac Advantage series. Today, Chambishi Metals is our largest mining eWorkflow site with more than 100 concurrent users using our advanced procurement and requisitioning modules,” adds Zitzke.

“With AccTech eWorkflow we have managed to move to a paperless stock requisitioning system with comprehensive commitment tracking per cost centre and business unit on both main and sub-process level,” says Abishek Budia, Internal Auditor at Chambishi Metals. “We carry more than 5 000 stock items and with eWorkflow’s Procurement module we have an automated re-ordering system to maintain our minimum levels on critical stock items.

Our dedicated buying department is also able to use AccTech eWorkflow RFQ – request for quote module with its embedded multi-currency quote evaluation and business rules features,” says Budia.

“Chambishi’s General Ledger (GL) structure is setup in segments representing cost centre and business units on main and sub-process level,” says Zitzke. “They have the ability to drill down from GL Level straight down to the source documents. This has made online real-time costing, with budget control and commitment tracking, a reality.

“AccTech’s experience and development skills on our project have proved to be of vital importance to the success of our system,” says Budia. “During the latest upgrade, they’ve managed to upgrade our financial year and convert all our system’s history in line with the new fiscal period, all within the set project budget.”
