24 July 2006 – IsoPos software streamlines Gold Reef City theme park visitor access

[Johannesburg, 24 July 2006] – The versatility of the locally developed point of sale software suite, isoPos, has been demonstrated with an unusual ticket sale, issue and tracking application that is streamlining ticket purchases and access at the Gold Reef City theme park and casino complex near Johannesburg.

Gold Reef City needed to improve access for visitors by automating the point of sale processing operations and the issue of tickets at entry points into the theme park complex. A second objective was to obtain greater control and improve overall security.

The task was allocated to 2005 Softline Accpac business partner of the year, Acctech Systems, which provides software support and services to the complex.

Acctech Systems approached isoPos to offer a solution to replace the existing standalone point of sale software system, a major shortcoming of which was its inability to integrate into Gold Reef City’s Accpac back office accounting system. After a demonstration by isoPos a decision was made to implement isoPos software.

Acctech Systems managing director Tertius Zitzke said the solution offered by isoPos included full integration of all ticket sales into the Sage ERP Accpac 500 system and the automatic printing and serialisation of tickets at each of the seven entry lanes into the theme park.

“The isoPos system creates an order entry invoice and a cash debtor in the accounts receivable module so that an invoice and receipt are automatically generated. All of the information on each transaction is integrated into the relevant revenue accounts in the Accpac back office General Ledger and can be tracked through the serial number.”

Zitzke added that the automatic printing of tickets was a much-needed feature of the isoPos solution. “Ticket printing is now instantaneous and the programmable keyboards ensure that all of the 70 different kinds of tickets – dictated by variations such as pensioner, adult, child, group, tour discount and the destinations they are valid for – are correctly issued and that the correct sum is paid.”

isoPos managing director Karl Wagner said the Gold Reef City requirement presented a challenge as its needs could not be met by a standard solution. “We had to develop additional functionality. The inherent design of isoPos allows such modification to meet the precise on-site needs of different applications.”

Commented Gold Reef City financial manager Johan Weideman: “With the new Accpac and isoPos solution we were able to minimise fraud by using pre-programmable keyboards that ensure tickets are always correctly printed. For example, for people who buy entry tickets that allow them to take major fun rides in the theme park as well, the solution prints not only the entry ticket but also links a matching wristband with the corresponding serial number. This clearly identifies people who have paid for rides and prevents ‘freebie’ abuse.”

A specialised software development house, isoPos focuses on the development of add-on software packages integrating seamlessly to leading international accounting software packages, creating benefits while meeting specific end-user needs. Customised solutions are either PC desktop- or Web-based and are designed using Microsoft Technologies including MS Visual Studio 6 and MS Visual Studio .NET. Database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Pervasive.SQL. are incorporated. isoPos has extensive experience of business accounting systems and management needs.
