[Johannesburg, 31 August 2004] – The Kwa-Zulu Natal regional office of Premier Sage ERP Accpac Solution Provider, AccTech Systems, has implemented Sage ERP Accpac Advantage Series Enterprise Edition with Peresoft CashBook at the offices of uShaka Marine World in Durban.

According to Tertius Zitzke, MD at AccTech Systems, the project was a so-called ‘greenfield’ installation as no prior systems existed at the newly built theme park. “Sage ERP Accpac’s reputation as the financial back office leader within the SA hotel and leisure industry, AccTech’s national support and experience in this industry vertical and uShaka staff members’ previous experience with Sage ERP Accpac assisted the company in its decision making process.

“uShaka was looking for a Microsoft SQL-based application that could be scaled as the business grows,” he says. “The company’s IT department insisted on a Microsoft platform and this complemented AccTech’s initial advisory.

With the standard Sage ERP Accpac financial report writer link into Microsoft Excel, and the budget control functionality within Sage ERP Accpac General Ledger, AccTech developed divisional financial reports for the 20 divisions as well as monthly and annual MIS reports. External data on statistics like daily attendance figures are also carried in Sage ERP Accpac General Ledger for MIS reporting.

Prakash Govender, financial manager at uShaka, adds that speed of deployment was an important factor influencing the decision to go for the Sage ERP Accpac solution. “uShaka is a new entity and had no financial solution in place. We needed a solution that would be up and running in no time at all, based on our rigid time constraints with the opening of the Park’s deadline looming,” she says.

“Our accountant had used the product in the past and impressed on us its ease of use, flexibility and powerful features. In addition, the Sage ERP Accpac solution promised to take no more than two weeks to implement. We were sold. AccTech delivered the project in time and the solution was a perfect fit for our budget.”

The newly designed 40 acre park includes an oceanarium, a large dolphin stadium, a penguin rookery and over 17 000 cubic metres of water, making it the fifth largest aquarium in the world. “Further to this, we host one of the largest water slides in the world along with several other water park rides and adventures,” says Govender.”Needless to say, traffic volumes through the park are vast and we needed a financial solution that would run smoothly with our current database and POS systems. Sage ERP Accpac fulfils and exceeds these requirements in that it can be scaled up as and when future growth demands.”
